Frequently Asked Questions

Montessori is an educational approach that is based on the scientific foundation of the natural development of human beings – which is why it is a truly universal education with successful outcomes for all children. It acknowledges that children have an innate desire to learn, and what they require is an environment to enable that learning to take place.

Maria Montessori established "The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)" in 1929 to protect the integrity of her work and to support high standards for both teacher training and schools. Today, AMI continues to uphold Maria Montessori’s vision while collaborating with contemporary research in neuroscience and child development. Curriculum subtopics, activities oe even the era may change, but it adheres to the core philosophy of ‘Stages of development’ of a child

To answer this question, first, we need to understand the contribution of a Board to a child’s education.

  1. The Under Graduate programs (UG) in most countries across the world need proof of 10+2 completion certified by one of the Boards. In other words, Board exams exist to certify a ‘minimum’ qualification of education. Beyond that, in India, there are additional entrance exams like JEE Mains and Advanced, NEET, MHT CET, BIT SAT, etc conducted by almost every UG Institute or University to check if the student is eligible to be admitted and eliminate those who don’t.
  2. Even after preparing for a Board exam, students have to prepare separately for these entrance exams because
    1. Either the Boards don’t cover most of the topics and skills needed by the UG programs, or
    2. Even if they do, they don’t deliver education in a way that these entrance exams test; the scientific interpretation skills, intelligence, reasoning, creativity, application-based skills of the student, and more.
  3. So, the real question is, is the Board a definitive answer for the overall education of a child?

No, and so if you are studying at a Montessori school, the ‘National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)’ provides you the solution, refer to The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
