What is this Masterclass about?

Students will be introduced to the world of honeybees and taught about their features and behaviour based on which their habitats will be discussed as well. They will then be asked to create a “floor plan for a house” for the bees based on its characteristics, behaviour and requirements. This house should be well equipped to serve each of the bee’s purposes, like ideal temperature, a place for laying eggs and incubating the larva, proximity to food, defence against predators etc.

What are the highlights of this Masterclass?

The highlight of the session is planning a beehive's floor plan to make it similar to a human's house floor plan. This activity is interesting while children get to work around the requirements, the challenges that honey bees face, safety measures and various other factors that are required to design a perfect floor plan.
